Production Information

Here is an outline of the Main Roles in our Production that our children can audition for...

Characters
NARRATORS: While the script describes them as Narrator One and Two it would be very easy to have several children play these roles. They are strong roles that hold the show together and require confident good singers with good diction so that the words can be heard. They have five REPRISES of ‘Poor Noah’ to sing as well as joining in on all the chorus numbers.
NOAH: Wise and unsure of himself, grows more confident as the show goes on but still has moments where he hesitates, knows he has to do something wonderful and looks forward to the challenge and appreciates Rachel’s support. It is very important that he is a STRONG actor.  Has to be able to impersonate Elvis and sings ‘I Wanna Ark’ as a solo. MUST have time to learn all the lines
RACHEL - NOAH’S WIFE Stern, loving and caring defending her husband and has faith in his ability to get the job done.  Rachel has one solo. Strong singing and personality. She sings ‘Follow Your Heart’ - chorus joins in.
SARAH - THEIR DAUGHTER Two people could play this role (divide up the lines) if you can’t decide who should fill the part. (Call the other one a biblical name also) Sings  “Fly Little Dove” against harmony singers.
LITTLE BO PEEP (non speaking cameo role) appears in ‘Poor Noah’ in Scene One
GA - GUARDIAN ANGEL: Strong character role for a female. over the top, full of self importance and have a Jamaican accent. The ‘GA’ is 28 and is FINALLY been called by God to be an Angel. She has a rap and a solo song ‘Man O Man’ with chorus backing. ANGEL ONE AND ANGEL TWO These two are traditional angels. They Very confident and self assured but do not have much faith in the GA and are very surprised that she got ‘the job’ of helping Noah over them. They don’t want to help him but they do.  Sarcastic! They need to be strong actors and singers. Solo parts throughout the show.
MR FIXITY - HARDWARE STORE MANAGE Loud and helpful but very doubtful about who Noah is and what he wants, false cheesy smiles and sugary sweet tone. - he sings a line in ‘I Wanna Ark’ although this is optional
MR FIXITY’S ASSISTANTS (helpers one, two and three) - comedy roles and would be helpful if they could sing but not necessary. Appear in Act One Scene Two
REPORTER Appears in Act One Scene 3 Looking for an exclusive thinks s/he will get all the rights. Has lines to rap in ‘Tell Us’
TV ANNOUNCER Appears in Act One Scene 3. Over the top self centred television personality, loves themselves. Has lines to rap in “Tell Us”

CROWD ONE, TWO AND THREE
Small speaking parts, being nosey questioning what Noah is doing and poking fun at the task. Has lines to rap in ‘Tell Us’

ANIMALTOLOGIST Quirky, nutty professor mad scientist type, excited about all the animals and being personally responsible for giving them to Noah. Does not need to be a singer

ANIMALS WITH SPEAKING PARTS
(These Animals also help the juniors in ‘The Animaltologist’ March around the Hall so need to be responsible and trustworthy.
LEOPARD, TIGER, CAMEL, GIRAFFE, BEAR TWO OTHER ANIMALS (depends on your costumes)
HARE ONE, TWO THREE AND FOUR: Small dialogue,  grumpy and out of sorts at being on the ark so long. They speak in Act Two Scene One.

ANIMALS WITH SPEAKING AND SOLO SINGING PARTS
ELEPHANT: speaking and  solo singing “We’re in the Same Boat”
LION solo singing required. Could double up and have two lions and sing “We’re in the same boat” as a duet and split lines accordingly
MOUSE: speaking and solo singing – solo singing “We’re in the Same Boat”
DOVE-maybe solo maybe dancers

MOA - celebrity if possible - sings a song.
