Week 2

We had a great first week back at school. I know we are going to have a great year in Room 12 with such a neat bunch of senior students.

We looked at The Treaty of Waitangi and made our own class treaty- The Treaty of Room 12. This week we look at Belonging: Ourselves. 

Behaviour

I have high expectations of student behaviour, particularly in the senior school. 

Our class has a card system in place to manage this. 
Each student has a pocket with a green card in it. 

If they break a Golden rule, they get a warning and change their card to orange. 

The second time they break a rule they get a red card, and lose 5 minutes of Golden time.

The third time they break a rule they get a blue card, and lose 10 minutes of Golden time.

The fourth time they break a rule they get a black card, lose 15 minutes of Golden time and are sent out.

Behaviour such as swearing, hitting or agressive behaviour will result in automatic loss of Golden time and/or being sent out.

I will keep a record of all card changes. If your child loses Golden time I will inform you either in person or by email. Your support is very important in making this system a success.

For positive behaviour our class has a "Board of honour". If a student is consistently following the Golden Rules, I put a tally point by their name. When they reach 12 tally points they get to choose a prize from the treasure chest.

I also choose 2 outstanding students each week to receive a Superkids award at School Assembly.

Reading

I aim to read with each Reading group most days, however the book will remain at school.

I expect every student in Room 12 to be reading a book of their choice for at least 15 minutes every night. Please sign your child's reading log that will come home in their homework book to confirm that they are doing this.

Wednesday- Ash Wednesday.

9.00am Ash Wednesday Liturgy in the church. Everyone welcome.

Thursday

Friday
9.00 am School Mass in the church. Everyone welcome.
Sausage sizzle.
