Week 7

Kia Ora Whanau, welcome back to week 7! We have officially made it through Winter and are now into Spring. Here's hoping the weather begins to improve!

This week is going to be an incredibly fun and action packed week!

Tomorrow morning we have speech competitions at 9am. Congratulations to Alan and Tinky who are our Room 12 finalists! This was a very tricky decision as all of our children did an amazing job; they should all be very proud of themselves because I know they all challenged themselves and overcame lots of barriers to do their very best. Feel free to come along tomorrow to watch the finals and support Alan and Tinky...we will be cheering them on!

This week I have planned a surprise challenge week for our class. This begins tomorrow after speech finals, where I will reveal what the challenge is AND we have a special guest coming in to ignite the challenge. Children will be working collaboratively in groups of 4 and will have Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the challenge, with Thursday being set aside to create the product they have designed. I won't give too much away on here yet as the children do not know, but ask them after school tomorrow what it is we are exploring and learning all about! They will need to purchase an item to bring in on Wednesday which will be less than $5...it would be really appreciated if you could please help your child find and purchase this item as it will be needed to complete the challenge. Ideally, we would like to have an adult helping 1 or 2 groups each on Thursday when they are creating their product. If you are available to help out on Thursday between 11 and 12.30pm please send me an email at nicoleh@stmarysrotorua.school.nz, get your child to bring a note to me, or pop in and let me know. Thank you!

On Friday we have a Nativity of Mary Mass. Whanau are more than welcome to attend this; it starts at 9am at our Church. It would be really nice to see you there :)

I hope you all have a lovely and safe week. I am very excited for the week ahead and supporting our class on this fun learning experience!
God Bless,
Nicole

St Mary’s School is taking part in the Colgate Community Garden Challenge.  This means as a school we need to start collecting oral waste products. There will be a box outside Room 6 where used products can be placed.  We can win a total of $4000 for our school grounds and gardens. Let’s start recycling and collecting for our School!
